What size rear wheel should I chose?
This size of wheels determines what kind of terrain the chair can handle. Put simply, the bigger the wheels, the bigger the obstacles you can drive over and the rougher the terrain the chair can comfortably handle.
We offer 3 sizes of rear wheel, each with different use environments in mind.
The 8 inch chair is intended for use on smooth flat terrain. This chair is ideal if it will only be used mostly indoors with no large stepups or ledges to mount.
The 12 inch chair is the most versatile chair we have to offer and can handle very rough terrain and large ledges and bumps.
The 10 inch chair falls somewhere in between the two, offering a good balance between indoor and outdoor use.
With our 30 day return policy you can try any of chairs and if they aren’t suitable to your needs we will be happy to take them back and you can upgrade as needed.
What is included with my Charged Chair order?
With your purchase of a Charged Chair personal mobility aid, you will receive the chair, a battery pack (with fitted carrying pouch), a battery charger, a joystick control unit, tool kit and instruction manual.
What assembly is required?
None. Your chair will arrive fully assembled, all you need to do is unfold it, slot the joystick in and connect the battery.
How long will it take for my Charged Chair order to ship and to arrive?

What is the speed of the chair?
All of our chairs have powerful electric motors that enable them to move around at about 5 mph, even when fully loaded.
What is your returns policy?
We offer a 30 day returns period during which you can claim a full refund. You will have to pay for return shipping. We will be happy to arrange shipping at a reasonable cost (typically £30-£50).
What is your warranty and repair policy?
Our chairs come with a 5 year warranty on the frame and motors, 2 years on the battery, joystick and control system. Wearing parts, such as the tires, seat, back rest and arm rests have a 1 year limited warranty.
Any faults occurring during the warranty period will be covered and eligible for repair or replacement where applicable. You will have to cover the cost of shipping to our repair centre. We will be happy to arrange shipping at a reasonable cost (typically £30-£50).
What is the No Downtime policy?
The No Downtime policy is an offer that ensures you will spend as little time as possible without a functioning chair if issues occur and repairs are necessary.
If anything ever goes wrong with your chair and repairs are needed simply contact us and we will arrange for your chair to be collected. Upon collection we will leave you with a new top spec replacement chair for you to use whilst we carry out your repairs. Once your repairs are complete we will bring your chair back and take the replacement.
For an additional £50 your chair will be covered throughout the warranty period.
How long does it take to charge the batteries?
It can take up to 6 to 8 hours to fully charge the battery, depending on the battery size.
Can I use my chair overseas where the voltage is different?
Yes, you can. Our chairs operates between AC 100-240 V, 50-60 Hz. Most of the world operates within this range.
Can I travel on an aeroplane with the my chair?
10 Ah battery
Yes, you can however regulations stat that you cannot bring your own wheelchair into the cabin of the plane, it must be stowed in the hold.
The battery cannot be stored in the hold and must come with you in your carry-on luggage.
15 Ah battery
No, this battery is too large to be taken on planes.
Can the joystick be mounted on the left or right side of the arm rests?
Yes. The joystick can be mounted on either the left or right side arm rest.
Can the joystick be mounted on the back for use by a helper?
Yes, the jockstick can be dismounted and controlled from the rear of the chair by a helper following behind. We recommend that the helper practice controlling the chair when empty first before assisting a user.
Can the seat and/or the seat cover be removed?
Yes. The seat is attached with Velcro and can be easily removed.
The seat cover can also be easily unzipped and removed so you can wash it.
Can I use a different type of (custom) seat?
Yes. Since the seat is attached with Velcro and can be easily removed, you can replace it with a seat that is more to your liking.
Do the arm rests raise for easy access into and out of the Charged Chair?
Yes. Both the left and right arm rests can be raised for easy access into and out of the Charged Chair, on either side.
Does the foot rest move out of the way for easy access into an out of the Charged Chair?
Yes. The foot rest can be swivelled up and it is completely out of your way, so you can easily get into and out of the Charged Chair by positioning your feet closer to the device.
What is the red lever on the motor next to the rear wheels?
The red lever on the motor near the rear wheel is the electromagnetic lock.
When it is engaged, you will not be able to push the wheelchair - the rear wheels will be locked and can only be moved using the joystick.
This is used when the device is in the 'powered' mode (power is ON) -- and the electromagnetic lock must be engaged in order to drive it with the power ON.
When the power is turned OFF and the electromagnetic lock is engaged, the wheels will also remain locked. But when you disengage the lock, you will be able to roll the wheels and push the chair manually.
This is a safety feature, so that if the chair were to lose power on an incline the electromagnetic brake will prevent it from rolling.
What are the wheels made of?
The wheels are made of solid high quality rubberised plastics, you will never have to deal with punctures. However, as these are the most used component of the chair they are expected to wear down over time. We offer replacement wheels
Dimensions when folded?
Varies slightly depending on wheel size but as a guide - 34" x 26" x 14. This is the largest model in a BMW 1 series boot.
What kind of maintenance do I need to perform and how often?
Other than charging the battery you shouldn’t need to perform any maintenance on your chair. If your chair ever does need repair or maintenance we will be happy to help.
